The PS Move controller later made a comeback as the hand tracking method for the PlayStation VR. The colloquially titled “Super Slim” marked the PlayStation 3 as the second PlayStation to receive more than one exterior design revision, after the PSP (which had five). So far the Super Slim is the final PlayStation system to use a top-loading disc drive, with the top sliding to the side so the user can insert the disc. The DualShock was actually preceded by the Dual Analog Controller in April that same year.
The Frog Suit Has Great Mid-air Mobility
To the right of the corridor where you first start mowing down enemies with the Gatling Gun, you’ll spot a Bo wearing a PS VR headset and using an Aim Controller. While the game he could be playing is vague, we’ve gone for Farpoint, a creepy VR game set in space that was a showcase for the Aim Controller. It was released in 2017 for PS4 and was developed by Impulse Gear.
Take the machine gun back to where puzzle piece 3 was, where you might have noticed a box with a wire pull in it. Shoot this box to break it, then pull the wire to reveal this artifact. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – Right at the start of the level, look down and to the left to see a group of three of the spinnable flowers. Spin all three to raise the platform they are on, revealing this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – As soon as the level starts, turn around and head back across the platforms to find this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – After reaching the next group of enemies circling a platform, go to the left where you can pull a wire and reach a tightrope.
But, much like with the hardware artifacts, every era of PlayStation is represented in some truly hilarious ways. To unlock the 10 artifacts in the PS Labo, enter the PS Labo (bottom-left on the map) and go to the opposite side from where you started. On this machine, you can spend your collected coins to get 28 Puzzle Pieces and 10 artifacts. This means you will need at least 5.800 coins, but in reality, it’s a little bit more because there are some blank prices in the machine.
But in the midst of all that history, Astro feels like an adorably fresh face; I’m glad to see the character break out of the confines of VR and reach out to a broader audience. Astro’s Playroom may not be the deepest or most ambitious game on PS5, but its humor and playfulness are just delightful. Every function and feature of the controller gets a little time in the spotlight. Pervasive and distinct rumble effects steal the show, from the tiny sensation of Astro’s footsteps to thundering moments like an Indiana Jones-style boulder chase. The triggers offer resistance as you charge your jumps in a frog suit or operate the levers on a toy machine. Sliding your finger across the touchpad lets you direct your movement as you roll around in a ball.
After crossing the first Shock Platforms in the heavy rain section, you’ll see on the right a Bot grinding back and forth on a cable. This references inFamous, released on the PS3 in 2009 by Sucker Punch. Protagonist Cole McGrath has electric superpowers one of which is the induction Grind that lets him accelerate along metal cables. Very early into the Electrocloud level, you’ll spot a jet fighter flying about on the right-hand side of the level. This is the R-C01 from the cover of Air Combat, the first game in the Ace Combat series released on the PS1 in 1995 and developed by Namco.
By consulting these guides, players can strategically plan their playthrough, ensuring they don’t miss any opportunities to earn these valuable Bronze trophies. Silver trophies present a slightly greater challenge, typically requiring players to complete more complex tasks or collect a larger number of items. Gold trophies are the most demanding, often requiring near-perfect execution or the completion of particularly obscure objectives. Finally, the Platinum trophy, “You’ve Only Done Everything,” is the ultimate reward, earned by unlocking all other trophies in the game. In addition to the base game trophies, there are DLC trophies that offer additional challenges.
All Special Bot Locations
Here, you’ll have to pull some cables to reach a new area above and defeat some nearby enemies. However, before you get through the wall by pulling the cables in some rock ahead, look to the left and walk into the flower petals to reveal a Special Bot. As the precursor to Astro Bot, Astro’s Playroom is a great platformer that all PS5 owners will have for free when they first get their console. It has four key sections, all referencing other PlayStation games and devices while remaining a challenging platformer that uses all the unique design choices the DualShock 5 controller offers. The frog suit of Cooling Springs is an absolute treasure in its DualSense use, though the levels are not necessarily my favorites.
Interestingly, the disc in Astro’s Playroom has a blue back, which was used for PS2 games that were small enough to fit on a CD-ROM, the format used by the original PlayStation. Don’t worry, there’s no fall damage, so Astro can survive the landing just fine. Once you’re on the other side, tug the Wires on the wall to reveal the next sequence with moving blocks. Jump onto the left-hand one, right it up, then Beam Glide to the block on the right.
Before we get to that, we’ll first need to find the GT driver’s artifact. Below is a table that lists the locations of the starfish in Bot Beach in the correct order the images to enlarge them. For https://hm88.cafe/ , “north” is marked by the giant blue fan building that you enter to get to Springy Spa. From here, jump over to the wooden platform up the tree, cross over the DualShock Cable to another platform, then defeat the Spiky on it.
The game they’re playing references Ridge Racer, released in 1997 for the PS1 and made by Delphine Software International. The title screen has close similarities to the original Ridge Racer and sequel Revolution, particularly the latter with a full-screen chequered flag. The Multitap was an add-on that allowed the PlayStation to support more than two controllers and Memory Cards. The first level of the game opens with Astro barreling down a waterslide before splashing in some water and walking up onto a beach. It’s hard to put into words, but the thunk of landing in the water is a dull, flat sensation that feels, well, like landing in water.
Overview Of The Trophy System
As you’re exploring Playroom’s levels you’ll also stumble across Astro Bots wearing a blue cap and holding a camera. They’re mostly there for the fun of it all rather than to accumulate anything, but every single one of them made me smile, even the few that I had to take a moment to try and guess at. I won’t spoil any more here so as to not rob anyone of the joy of first discovering them.
Once again, working together, you were able to crack the riddle and free her to make it 2 out of 4. Japan Studio gained the confidence to create a richer world for Astro after the success of Astro Bot Rescue Mission for the PlayStation VR in 2018. The positive reception of this demo then paved the way for Astro Bot, which won countless awards and accolades and even secured the title of Game of the Year 2024 amidst the fierce competition.
Playroom focused on the consoles and its devices, being more of a walk in memory lane through all the gaming years PlayStation has provided, even having the PS1’s tech demo as a boss. Plus, it’s hard to beat the nostalgia of hearing a PS1 and a PS2 starting up here. Coin collection in Astro Playroom is straightforward but requires attention to detail. Revisit levels after completing the story to find missed coins; Break objects like crates and ice blocks to reveal additional coins. Collecting coins contributes to trophy progress‚ so thorough exploration is key. Focus on areas with unique terrain to maximize your coin haul efficiently.
This makes it an ideal game for those looking to boost their trophy count without investing a significant amount of time. Other specific trophies might involve completing mini-games with certain scores, finding hidden collectibles, or performing unique actions with the DualSense controller. This section will cover these trophies in detail, providing step-by-step instructions and tips to ensure you unlock them with ease. For the “Twisting Metal” trophy, players need to perform a specific action within the game that references the classic PlayStation title Twisted Metal. This might involve using a particular in-game vehicle or interacting with an environment in a certain way.
